USC School of Architecture
CAMPAIGN Design, ART DIRECTION, LEADERSHIP, SOCIAL MEDIA, PRINT, PHOTOGRAPHY
Since July 2023, I’ve been working full-time at the University of Southern California, School of Architecture. As the sole graphic designer at USC School of Architecture, I collaborate with multiple departments, enhancing their social media, presentations, print materials, and event graphics. With a keen eye for detail and adherence to USC's brand guidelines, I elevate the school's image, playing a vital role in student outreach, retention, and sponsor engagement.
In addition to graphic design, I also have led creative initiatives such as office beautification via custom signage, interviewing and on-boarding student workers while offering design feedback, providing event support through set-up, assisting event coordination, and organic event photography.
Architecture Engaged Lecture Series
I created the visual identity for the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semester recurring lecture series, ‘Architecture Engaged’. This series features several pioneering creatives from a range of fields across film and marketing, ecological restoration and environmental science, biology and computation, architectural design, and technology and product creation. The look needed to be versatile for social media, print, and email outreach.
The design challenge: Create unique designs each semester that is design-forward while still adhering to USC’s + the USC School of Architecture’s brand guidelines.
My solution: I utilized our key fonts, colors, and embraced one of the primary concepts of architecture, which is the juxtaposition of free-flowing movement with structure. I combined abstract-illustrative elements with a system of hierarchy to highlight our classic, timeless, and modern look.
I love creating design that is functional for several platforms. I found fitting audio assets, enhanced the speaker’s volume and balanced the sound, and added animation to make the design come to life.
Creating Synchronicity via Individual Projects
One of the biggest challenges is making several assets for various events and campaigns that are unique to the individual project, yet cohesive within the brand’s standards and personality. I believe I demonstrate my skill and artistic direction/vision through these various projects.
Golf Tournament
PRINT, SIGNAGE, MARKETING, BRANDING, STEP & REPEAT (S&R)
I created all the supplemental graphics for the 41st annual Architectural Guild Golf Tournament, which is an event to raise money for the USC School of Architecture’s scholarships for students. I kept the branding consistent through all assets which included prints on foam boards, cloth, and vinyl. I also assisted in the event and signage setup. Below is a gallery of my work displayed throughout the event.
Event & Program Promotion
PRINT, POSTER, & SOCIAL MEDIA DESIGN
There are several programs, events, and fellowships available to students that our department highlights. My job as a graphic designer is to enhance these events, the outreach, and the overall brand of the USC School of Architecture with beautiful and engaging graphics.
I love the challenge of making great design that is timeless and still within USC’s specific brand guidelines. Being one of several schools within USC, I strive to achieve the balance of embracing the USC School of Architecture’s individuality while clearly showcasing the fact that we are part of the larger school.
Event Photography
Being a multidisciplinary creative, I also dabble in photography for on campus events to promote our school and gather original assets for future graphics. I use my skills of composition and light photo-retouching to enhance the images and record exquisite photos for generations to come!
Conclusion
I am very proud of the work I’ve made so far, and I’m excited to keep pushing the envelope and growing at USC to serve the community of architecture and students.
